What Floats Your Airplane? It's Coming to Moses Lake, WA September 7-9 2018

2018 Central Washington RC Sport Flyers’ Float Fly
September 7 - 9, 2018

The 2018 Float Fly is being organized as, and will be hosted as, a fun-fly event for model RC float planes. The Central Washington RC Sport Flyers welcomes all RC model airplane pilots and builders to Moses Lake, Washington.

The site of the event is the shoreline of Moses Lake’s Cascade Park, on the Lewis Horn inlet, as is shown on the accompanying map. The park is located about one block southwest of the Grant County Fairgrounds at 8301 Valley Rd NE, Moses Lake, WA 98837.
This event will encompass: building, piloting, documentation for scale airplane entries, awards, camaraderie, and the simple joy of participating in a gathering of enthusiasts.

Models entered in the build competition will be judged by the participants (pilots choice) vote for their quality of construction, finish, and flight performance. A trophy will be awarded to the model selected by the participants as the best build and finish, with supporting documentation if possible.
Piloting will not be judged, however, participants will also have the opportunity to vote for the best float plane pilot, with the criteria being best takeoff, landing and pattern float.

As with any gathering of enthusiast, entrants and their families will be encouraged to share in no-host gatherings at the Rock Top Burgers & Brews Friday evening (Sept 07) and Michael’s On The Lake Saturday evening (Sept 08).
Note all models will be examined by an Academy of Model Aeronautics Leader Member for build quality. Additionally, each morning of the event, prior to the flight line being opened, an in-depth pilots meeting will be held, with the purpose being to brief pilots on the pit areas, flight lines, flight envelope, safety, aircraft recovery procedures, AMA guidelines, Moses Lake Parks & Recreation requirements, and the events defined boundaries, plus each pilot entered will receive a name badge with their AMA number noted. Further, all pilots will be briefed on the days activities for the flying as well as after hours happenings. Additionally, all pilots will be provided “pilots’ choice” voting ballots, as well as contact information for the organizers and flight line control bosses.

Again, this event is organized as a way to offer fun and relaxation to RC float plane enthusiasts, with a significant emphasis on safety for all.
